Towers

November 15, 2017

A poem I rediscovered, which I wrote in 2016.

We’ve built for ourselves
These towers of concrete, steel and glass
Like modern day Towers of Babylon
They, too, will soon pass.

What remains of the decay below
Just empty souls and empty lives amidst the snow.

Walking aimlessly with no direction, no purpose
And yet the emotions are there, lying beneath the surface.

The city draws us all near again
A cavalcade of lonely people with no end.
