I hate holidays. I like the time off, but I’ve always been cynical about the sentimentality and the obsession over holidays.
I want to put aside all of the criticism about the holiday being coporatized and commercialized and focus on one key point.
Why do we only have to celebrate love for one day of the year? It’s the same point I tried to make with the Bell Let’s Talk Day and mental illness.
If you love someone, whether it’s a significant other, your family or a close friend, why not show that love everyday?
I’ve always believed God is love and that it is omnipresent. He is all around us everyday and we should be showing that love all of the time.
Show your love everyday. Be caring to everyone you know and everyone you meet. Be compassionate and empathetic. That’s how we should be celebrating love.
